  5. Welcome to GEnie's Closing Quotes service featuring composite closing quotes,
  6. trading ranges and volumes from the two most recent trading days.  Included in
  7. this service are more than 5,000 issues traded on the New York and American
  8. Stock Exchanges as well as listed over-the-counter (OTC) securities traded on
  9. the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) exchange.

  11. More than 2,000 Mutual Funds are also represented in Closing Quotes.  Quote
  12. information provided for mutual funds includes net asset values (NAV) and
  13. offering prices.

  15. The information contained in GEnie's Closing Quotes service is provided by
  16. Interactive Data Corporation (IDC), a division of Dun & Bradstreet.  The
  17. information available through Closing Quotes is the property of IDC and is

  27. Retrieving Stock Quotes
  28. =======================

  30. Select Item #3 - "Retrieve Closing Quotes" to retrieve the quotes you are
  31. interested in.  The system allows you to enter from one to thirty ticker
  32. symbols at a time.  If you wish to retrieve quotes for more than one security,
  33. each ticker symbol must be separated with a comma.  You can mix ticker symbols
  34. for stocks and mutual funds in one request.

  36. Depending upon the type of security, the information displayed will vary.  For
  37. example, if you entered the ticker symbol "ZZZ" for securities issued by Maru
  38. C., Inc, the following information would be displayed:

  44. While most of the information displayed is self explanatory, some have special
  45. meanings which may be unique to Closing Quotes.  The third column (labeled
  46. "TP") indicates the security's "type".  The type codes which may be displayed
  47. in Closing Quotes are:

  60. In some cases information will also be displayed in the fourth column, labeled
  61. "C".  This indicates the "class" of stock or preferred issue the quote
  62. represents.  This field is most often used to distinguish between multiple
  63. issues from a single company.

  65. Some companies have more than one "preferred" issue.  For example, if you
  66. requested a quote for ticker symbol PE (for Philadelphia Electric), you would
  67. receive closing quotes for their common stock and all preferred issues.  Each
  68. preferred class of stock will contain "PR" as the Type Code and a letter in
  69. the "C" field indicating which preferred issue the quote represents.

  71. Closing Quotes will automatically display ALL preferred issues or classes for
  72. a given issuer.  It is not necessary for you to specify which issue you want.
  73. For example, entering the ticker symbol "WAN" provides both Class C and Class
  74. B stock for Wang Laboratories.

  85. Retrieving NASD "Bid/Ask" Quotes
  86. ================================

  88. Closing Quotes includes trading information for NASD Bid/Ask issues.  However,
  89. because of the nature of these securities, the information displayed will be
  90. somewhat different.

  92. Instead of High, Low and Close - only Bid and Ask prices will be displayed.
  93. Volume will be displayed as with "standard" stock issues.  For example, a
  94. quote for ABAE - American Body Armor Equipment - which is a NASD Bid/Ask issue
  95. will look like this:

  102. Retrieving Mutual Fund Quotes

  105. The procedure for retrieving mutual fund quotes is exactly the same as for
  106. retrieving stock quotes.  The only difference is in the information which is
  107. displayed.

  109. All mutual funds will contain "X" as the Type Code and will provide only the
  110. Net Asset Value (NAV) and the Offer Price for the fund.  Since mutual funds
  111. are priced only once - after the market closes - no trading ranges will be
  112. provided.

  114. If you retrieved a quote for Fidelity Magellan, the display would look like
